When people decide to live on the Costa Blanca, the first question they ask is where to live. Calpe is one of the best options. But where should you invest in Calpe? Which areas of Calpe are the best places to be? Calpe is a picturesque resort town on the Costa Blanca. Life in Calpe can feel like a dream come true for anyone who wants to live by the sea and enjoy a quiet life surrounded by nature. On your first visit, you will almost certainly fall in love with the town: the narrow streets of the old town, the stunning scenery, the cool sea breeze, the beautiful beaches and, of course, the majestic Penyal d'Ifach, the symbol of Calpe. In this article, discover the best areas of Calpe to invest in property. Find out more about buying an apartment or a house in Calpe.
The Puerto area lies at the foot of the Penyal d'Ifach and is one of the most prestigious, but also one of the most expensive, parts of Calpe. The housing market here is made up of studios, penthouses and luxury apartments in residential complexes. A 62 m² apartment with 2 bedrooms and a sea-view terrace will sell for around €150,000. You will find many new-build properties here. The Puerto area also has traditional houses with tiled façades. These homes, together with the cool sea breeze and the sea views, give the area a special charm. The port is home to the Nautic Calp sailing club, which makes this area especially attractive to sailing enthusiasts.
To the left of the Penyal d'Ifach lies the Playa de Fossa-Levante area, next to the beach of the same name. It is the most touristic area of Calpe, recommended for those who want to live there all year round and enjoy being at the heart of the town's leisure and tourist life. In the Playa de la Fossa area, you will find plenty of bars, restaurants, cafés and leisure areas. Many foreign tourists gather here, especially in high season. The area has many hotels, a wide choice of apartments and a limited number of houses. Playa de la Fossa is in high demand among investors who want good rental returns. Rental apartments here are booked well in advance. Properties in Fossa-Levante are also expensive, although you can find affordable options. An 85 m² apartment with 2 bedrooms and a sea view will sell for around €250,000. Next to Playa de la Fossa is the Las Salinas salt lake. This remarkable body of water fills the air with minerals that are good for your health. Homes overlooking Las Salinas are very popular with buyers and tenants. It is an ideal area to live in Calpe all year round: fresh air, peace and quiet, the beach within walking distance and all the facilities you need. The town centre is also very close, so you can always go for a walk or do some shopping.
To the right of the Penyal d'Ifach lies Playa Arenal-Bol beach and the area of the same name. This area is better suited to living all year round than Fossa-Levante. It is a fairly quiet area, without many tourists. It is seeing new residential developments and prestigious residential complexes. New residential complexes are being built here at a steady pace. An apartment in one of these new complexes will be listed at €275,000 for 75 m².

The Playa Arenal-Bol area borders Calpe Pueblo, which includes Calpe's old town. This area has the widest choice of properties in Calpe, although almost all of them are older buildings. In the centre of Calpe, you can find properties at affordable prices, and the main advantage of the area is how close it is to the sea: wherever you live, the sea is never far away. The average price per square metre in Calpe Pueblo is €2,502/m². The price reflects its urban advantages. Shops, schools, sports clubs, business centres and more are all within walking distance. If you do not have a car and do not plan to buy one, Calpe Pueblo is the ideal place for you. If you like local flavour and the atmosphere of a Mediterranean town, this area is made for you. The streets of the old town are decorated with plants and flowers, and the neighbours are very friendly. Note that you will not find any new-build houses here.
The Playa Arenal-Bol and Playa de Fossa-Levante areas are bordered by the large Cometa-Carrió area, made up of residential estates built mainly with houses, bungalows, semi-detached houses and villas. A 2-bedroom bungalow with a shared pool and sea views, 2.5 km from the beach, will cost around €130,000. It is the greenest area of Calpe, ideal for the whole family. The area offers a wide range of homes, including new builds.
This is where you will find the Puerto Blanco marina and a small, pretty beach of the same name. The area is dominated by low-rise buildings: houses, villas and bungalows. There are few apartments, and they are in prestigious high-rise complexes. If you are offered a home in these areas at an unusually low price, be very careful. These are prestigious areas, the supply of homes is limited and prices are high. If a house is being sold cheaply, it has a serious defect. To give you an idea of house prices in this area: a dream home, a modern luxury villa of 332 m² with stunning sea views, will cost €2,200,000.
