Figueres, Salvador Dalí's home town and the capital of the region, lives between genius and the force of the Tramuntana wind. Figueres has a fascinating historic centre, a lively Rambla and plenty of shops and restaurants.
Strolling through its squares or along the Rambla is a real pleasure. You will find markets with local produce, shops and café terraces. You will discover historic buildings such as Casa Terradas and the house where Dalí was born (Calle Monturiol 20).
From the Rambla, head to Plaza del Gra, Plaza del Escorxador and Plaza de la Palmera. Don't miss Plaça de les Patates and Plaza del Ayuntamiento for restaurants and local life.
This castle is the largest bastioned fortress in Europe. It is about a 20-minute walk from the centre and offers wonderful views of the town, the sea and the Pyrenees.

The Dalí Theatre-Museum is a major attraction. Highlights include the Labyrinth, the Mae West Room and the Palace of the Wind.
As you enter, you discover a central courtyard and many rooms showing iconic works by the surrealist master.
Housed in Casa Terradas, it displays more than four thousand items, some of which belonged to famous people.
From Figueres you can explore the Alt Empordà, the Costa Brava and the medieval towns inland. Contact us.
