Valencia is one of the cities most in demand among Spanish and international students. Thousands of Erasmus students come to the city of the Turia for their studies, but why? The answer lies in its beaches, the endless possibilities of the old riverbed, the city-centre streets with their places for a drink, the port area... When you are new to a city, you have plenty of doubts and questions. That is why we want to help you get to know Valencia. Depending on your needs, you will look at the different accommodation options. But once you have chosen, you need to decide which neighbourhood to settle in!
If you are looking for an affordable area (typical when you are a student) that is fairly close to the university campus by tram, the best option is Benimaclet. The area has a wide choice of shared student flats at truly affordable prices for any budget. And if you are a football fan, the Mestalla stadium is very close to this Valencia neighbourhood.
The area around the university campuses is worth considering for quality of life, not least because you save time on transport. Examples of specific spots are Avenida de Ramón Llull, Plaza Honduras, Avenida de Blasco Ibáñez and Plaza del Cedro.
Another option is to live in the Cabanyal or Malvarrosa neighbourhoods. These areas have a beach, so you can switch off from your studies and enjoy your time in Valencia by the sea. They are a little outside the city centre but a reasonable distance from the universities.
Foreign students rarely live in El Carmen because it is central and further from the university, but some love its atmosphere. In short, the neighbourhood or area of Valencia you choose will depend on what you are looking for.
