A beach resort that grew from a fishing port
Fuengirola has changed from an old fishing port into a welcoming beach resort for families and visitors. On the Mediterranean, it offers a warm way of life with a lively seafront, easy-to-reach beaches and quiet neighbourhoods suited to daily life. An English-speaking estate agency can help you find the neighbourhoods that fit your lifestyle, organise targeted viewings and handle local formalities so that your purchase in Fuengirola goes smoothly.
A privileged quality of life
Fuengirola offers a remarkable quality of life, popular with expats and retirees for its mild climate and outdoor activities all year round. The town is mostly flat, ideal for walks along a wide seafront lined with bars and restaurants. Areas such as Los Boliches enjoy a pleasant microclimate thanks to the surrounding hills. Fuengirola has a full range of services, good rail and road links to Málaga and the international airport, and a varied choice of leisure activities that make daily life easy for residents.
A rich history and heritage
Fuengirola has an ancient history that shows in its sites and architecture, the legacy of successive settlers, starting with its first founders, the Phoenicians. This history lives on in archaeological remains, local museums and cultural traditions that mark the year. For buyers, it is a chance to live where the sea and the past meet, a setting made for walks, discovery and genuine local life. Working with a professional makes it easier to access these heritage neighbourhoods.

Fuengirola has a long seafront promenade, from Torreblanca to Sohail Castle, running past one sandy beach after another.
It is a compact town, where a lot can be done on foot, and the last stop on the commuter train line that links it to Málaga and its airport.
Every journey is unique. So is every goal. That is why we offer two packages to suit your needs: full purchase support, from the search to the signing, or legal due diligence on a property you have already found.

Legal due diligence
You have already found the property. We secure the purchase, no viewings needed.

Suited to buyers looking for space and peace while staying a short distance from Fuengirola's centre and amenities. A good fit for families and those looking for a more relaxed life.
Los Boliches
Los Boliches combines a neighbourhood feel with a large expat community: markets, seafront restaurants and good rail links. The area is popular for its authentic character, local schools and nearby shops. The streets stay lively without the bustle of the centre, which makes it attractive to families and buyers who want a practical daily life close to the beach.
Centro / Paseo Marítimo
The centre and its paseo marítimo offer a lively, friendly atmosphere: long beaches, restaurants, shops and nightlife. Close to services, the marina and transport, it attracts those who want everything within reach. Ideal for buyers looking for a lively pied-à-terre or a property that is easy to let in season. Schools and healthcare services are usually within walking distance.

Frequently asked questions about property in Fuengirola
Can a foreign buyer purchase property in Fuengirola?
+
Yes. Spain places no nationality restrictions on buying property. You do, however, need an NIE, the foreigner identification number, which is required to sign at the notary's and to open a Spanish bank account. We handle this step as part of our support.
What costs should you budget for on top of the property price?
+
As a rule, allow 10 to 15% of the asking price. This covers transfer tax (ITP) for a resale property or VAT for a new build, notary fees, land registry registration and administrative costs. Our online buying costs calculator gives a detailed estimate by region and type of property.
Do you need to be there in person to buy in Fuengirola?
+
No. Many of our clients buy from abroad. Viewings can be done by video call with a written report, and signing at the notary's is possible with a power of attorney. On site, we check what photos do not show: the real condition, the immediate surroundings, any nuisances, compliance.
What checks do you carry out before an offer?
+
We check the property's legal status at the land registry, that there are no debts or unpaid charges, planning compliance, the state of the community of owners and whether the price is consistent with recent sales in the area. These checks take place before any offer, not after.
How long does it take to buy a property in Fuengirola?
+
From the first viewing to signing, it generally takes two to four months. The timing depends mainly on getting the NIE, any financing and the notary's availability. A cash purchase with a complete file can go faster.
