Why invest in property on the Costa Daurada?

The Costa Daurada combines Mediterranean beaches, well-connected towns, a range of prices and a pleasant way of life for buying in Catalonia.
Colourful facades and boats moored in a marina in the Valencian Community
A more affordable stretch of the Catalan coast
The Costa Daurada is an interesting alternative to the most pressured areas of Catalonia. Depending on the area, prices remain more varied than in Barcelona or on parts of the Costa Brava, while keeping a sought-after Mediterranean setting. Salou, Cambrils, Tarragona and the more residential towns suit different projects: a second home, a year-round move or a long-term investment. Our role is to compare areas, check that prices make sense and help you choose a location that fits your budget.
A wide range of properties between sea, town and villages
Property on the Costa Daurada covers very different profiles: apartments near the beach, family houses, villas with outdoor space, homes in residential complexes or in town centres. This variety lets you match the search to how you will really use the property: holidays, retirement, remote work, investment or a gradual move. We help you sort through the listings, organise viewings and spot the points to watch with coastal properties, such as service charges, the condition of the building, orientation or the real distance to services.
A well-connected and pleasant region to live in
Buying on the Costa Daurada means enjoying a Mediterranean way of life while staying well connected. Being close to Tarragona, Barcelona, the main roads and the railway stations makes travel easy, while the coast offers beaches, harbours, restaurants, shops and everyday services. The region suits buyers who want a pied-à-terre in Spain as well as those planning a longer-term move. We help you choose an area that fits your pace of life and your priorities.

Property prices on the Costa Daurada: where to buy

Cambrils
A former fishing port that has become a popular coastal town for its food, its marina and its family beaches. A calmer atmosphere than the big resorts, with a strong culinary reputation and seafront restaurants. Good local schools and services; practical road links to Tarragona and Salou. Ideal for families and buyers looking for quality of life, closeness to the sea and local authenticity.
Salou
A lively beach resort known for its long beaches, busy promenade and tourist facilities. It offers a wide choice of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities; busy in the summer season, yet it keeps quieter residential areas. Easy access to main roads and rail links. Suits buyers looking for a lively second home or seasonal rental opportunities.
Tarragona
A historic port city, Tarragona offers an old town rich in Roman remains, a seafront promenade and city beaches. The mood mixes local life with moderate tourism, and everyday services and schools are easy to reach. With good links to Barcelona and the airport, it attracts buyers looking for a balance between culture, convenience and being close to the sea. Ideal for those who want an urban lifestyle without the intensity of the big beach resorts.

What worries you most?

Optional. You can choose more than one.

Your contact speaks English, from the first call to the signing. We translate the documents and explain each step to you before you commit.

NIE, bank account, buyer's tax, document translation: our teams handle it for you, right up to signing at the notary's.

Our experts do the pre-viewings on site, on video with you. You only travel to sign, and we prepare a power of attorney if you cannot come.

Before any offer, we check the property: debts, charges, mortgages, planning, licences and community of owners. You know what you are buying.

The notary checks the formalities and the seller has their own lawyer. We bring in an independent lawyer who defends only your interests and checks the preliminary contract before you sign.

Search, viewings, negotiation, paperwork: we take care of it. You get a written report in English at each step and you keep control of the decisions.

Anything to add?

Optional. Constraints, wishes, timing: anything that helps narrow the search.

Frequently asked questions about property on the Costa Daurada

Can a foreigner buy property on the Costa Daurada?

+

Yes. Spain places no nationality restrictions on buying property. You do, however, need an NIE, the foreigner identification number, which is required to sign at the notary's and to open a Spanish bank account. We handle this step as part of our support.

What costs should you budget for on top of the property price?

+

As a rule, allow 10 to 15% of the asking price. This covers transfer tax (ITP) for a resale property or VAT for a new build, notary fees, land registry registration and administrative costs. Our online buying costs calculator gives a detailed estimate by region and type of property.

Do you need to be there in person to buy on the Costa Daurada?

+

No. Many of our clients buy from abroad. Viewings can be done by video call with a written report, and signing at the notary's is possible with a power of attorney. On site, we check what photos do not show: the real condition, the immediate surroundings, any nuisances, compliance.

What checks do you carry out before an offer?

+

We check the property's legal status at the land registry, that there are no debts or unpaid charges, planning compliance, the state of the community of owners and whether the price is consistent with recent sales in the area. These checks take place before any offer, not after.

How long does it take to buy property on the Costa Daurada?

+

From the first viewing to signing, it generally takes two to four months. The timing depends mainly on getting the NIE, any financing and the notary's availability. A cash purchase with a complete file can go faster.
