The Costa Brava combines coves, characterful villages, easy road links to the rest of Europe and strong heritage appeal.
Competitive prices and an accessible market
The Costa Brava property market stands out for prices that are generally more competitive than on other European coastlines, with good value for the quality of life. The average asking price per square metre is shown in the key figures higher up this page, with its source and date, which helps you target a range of properties, from a coastal apartment to a village house. Our support helps you identify the areas that suit your needs, compare offers and negotiate according to local practice, so you make a well-considered purchase in line with your home or rental goals.
Sun, sea and quality of life all year round
Choosing to live on the Costa Brava means a Mediterranean climate, beaches and coves close at hand, and an outdoor way of life. Whether you are looking for a main home, a holiday home or a pied-à-terre, sun and sea all year round affect the comfort, the activities and how you can use the property. We help you find homes that are well located, well oriented and close to local services, so you can make the most of the Catalan way of life.

Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc capture the charm of the Catalan coast, with promenades, small beaches and quality restaurants and shops. The area is very popular with families and international buyers for its friendly atmosphere and summer events. Reached by good roads to Girona and Barcelona, it offers a balance between active local life and seaside calm, suited to living there all year.
Cadaqués (Cap de Creus)
Cadaqués, an artists' village near the Cap de Creus natural park, is known for its white lanes, its unique character and its bohemian atmosphere. Suited to buyers looking for authenticity and unspoilt nature, it is mostly a place for a second home or an artistic pied-à-terre. Services are concentrated in the village; the road in can be winding, which adds to the sense of exclusivity.
Begur (Aiguablava, Sa Tuna)
Begur and its coves (Aiguablava, Sa Tuna) offer a calm Mediterranean atmosphere, with villas and small buildings surrounded by pine trees. The area appeals to buyers looking for an upmarket second home or a family house by the water. Local services, shops in nearby villages and easy road access to Girona make the area attractive, despite limited public transport out of season.

Frequently asked questions about property on the Costa Brava
Can a foreigner buy property on the Costa Brava?
+
Yes. Spain places no nationality restrictions on buying property. You do, however, need an NIE, the foreigner identification number, which is required to sign at the notary's and to open a Spanish bank account. We handle this step as part of our support.
What costs should you budget for on top of the property price?
+
As a rule, allow 10 to 15% of the asking price. This covers transfer tax (ITP) for a resale property or VAT for a new build, notary fees, land registry registration and administrative costs. Our online buying costs calculator gives a detailed estimate by region and type of property.
Do you need to be there in person to buy on the Costa Brava?
+
No. Many of our clients buy from abroad. Viewings can be done by video call with a written report, and signing at the notary's is possible with a power of attorney. On site, we check what photos do not show: the real condition, the immediate surroundings, any nuisances, compliance.
What checks do you carry out before an offer?
+
We check the property's legal status at the land registry, that there are no debts or unpaid charges, planning compliance, the state of the community of owners and whether the price is consistent with recent sales in the area. These checks take place before any offer, not after.
How long does it take to buy property on the Costa Brava?
+
From the first viewing to signing, it generally takes two to four months. The timing depends mainly on getting the NIE, any financing and the notary's availability. A cash purchase with a complete file can go faster.
