La Palma, nicknamed La Isla Bonita, is one of the most spectacular and unspoilt of the Canary Islands. Known for its green forests, volcanic landscapes and starry skies, it attracts lovers of nature, hiking and astronomy. When buying property in La Palma, good support is essential: we offer tailored follow-up to identify the areas, view properties that match your expectations and secure every step of the process, so you can complete your project with peace of mind.
La Palma combines spectacular nature, a mild climate, authentic Canarian life and an ideal setting to slow down.
An authentic, unspoilt island
La Palma offers rare authenticity, between volcanic peaks, deep forests and coastal views. Its geology and the quality of its night skies make the island a place to explore for lovers of nature and astronomy. Living here means enjoying a varied natural setting where every outing reveals a new landscape. For a buyer, this authenticity means a way of life centred on the place itself, constant discovery and closeness to remarkable natural sites, far from the bustle of the city.
Nature in the wild
La Palma's appeal lies in its protected areas and in the continuity of its natural environments, on land and at sea. A national park, reserves and protected landscapes offer preserved habitats and routes where biodiversity thrives. The island's status as a biosphere reserve and Starlight destination confirms its exceptional character. For a property project, this means preserved surroundings, open views and the chance to live close to unspoilt nature, while respecting local planning rules.
Peace and quality of life
La Palma is a place of calm: quiet roads, villages with a gentle pace and landscapes that invite contemplation. Walking around the island often means slowing down, taking in the sounds and smells of the place and enjoying a less stressful daily life. For buyers, this setting is a true refuge, ideal for relaxing and for a wide range of outdoor activities. Choosing to buy here means opting for a quality of life built on calm and simplicity.

Frequently asked questions about property in La Palma
Can a foreign buyer purchase property in La Palma?
+
Yes. Spain places no nationality restrictions on buying property. You do, however, need an NIE, the foreigner identification number, which is required to sign at the notary's and to open a Spanish bank account. We handle this step as part of our support.
What costs should you budget for on top of the property price?
+
As a rule, allow 10 to 15% of the asking price. This covers transfer tax (ITP) for a resale property or VAT for a new build, notary fees, land registry registration and administrative costs. Our online buying costs calculator gives a detailed estimate by region and type of property.
Do you need to be there in person to buy in La Palma?
+
No. Many of our clients buy from abroad. Viewings can be done by video call with a written report, and signing at the notary's is possible with a power of attorney. On site, we check what photos do not show: the real condition, the immediate surroundings, any nuisances, compliance.
What checks do you carry out before an offer?
+
We check the property's legal status at the land registry, that there are no debts or unpaid charges, planning compliance, the state of the community of owners and whether the price is consistent with recent sales in the area. These checks take place before any offer, not after.
How long does it take to buy property in La Palma?
+
From the first viewing to signing, it generally takes two to four months. The timing depends mainly on getting the NIE, any financing and the notary's availability. A cash purchase with a complete file can go faster.
