Buying a home in Calafell: our English-speaking team at the Barcelona office helps you choose the right area, views properties for you and checks everything through to the notary.
Calafell is made up of three parts: the village on its hill, around the castle of La Santa Creu, the beach of Calafell, and Segur de Calafell. The Iberian citadel of Les Toixoneres, fortified in the 6th century BC, has been reconstructed here.
On the seafront, the Casa Barral, home of the poet and publisher Carles Barral, is now a museum. The coastal railway line links the town to Barcelona and Tarragona.
Every journey is unique. So is every goal. That is why we offer two packages to suit your needs: full purchase support, from the search to the signing, or legal due diligence on a property you have already found.

Frequently asked questions about property in Calafell
Can a foreigner buy property in Calafell?
+
Yes. Spain places no nationality restrictions on buying property. You do, however, need an NIE, the foreigner identification number, which is required to sign at the notary's and to open a Spanish bank account. We handle this step as part of our support.
Do you have an office near Calafell?
+
Our nearest office is in Barcelona: Pg. de Gràcia, 61, 3º1ª, 08007 Barcelona. The Barcelona team handles projects in Calafell. We meet you at the office or by video call, and organise viewings on site.
Do you need to be there in person to buy in Calafell?
+
No. Many of our clients buy from abroad. Viewings can be done by video call with a written report, and signing at the notary's is possible with a power of attorney. On site, we check what photos do not show: the real condition, the immediate surroundings, any nuisances, compliance.
What costs should you budget for on top of the property price?
+
As a rule, allow 10 to 15% of the asking price. This covers transfer tax (ITP) for a resale property or VAT for a new build, notary fees, land registry registration and administrative costs. Our online buying costs calculator gives a detailed estimate by region and type of property.
How long does it take to buy a property in Calafell?
+
From the first viewing to signing, it generally takes two to four months. The timing depends mainly on getting the NIE, any financing and the notary's availability. A cash purchase with a complete file can go faster.
