Step 1 of 12

Girona is known for its colourful houses lining the Onyar, beneath the outline of the cathedral. The Barri Vell, with its old Jewish quarter and its walls that you can walk along, keeps a medieval character.
A lively university city, Girona is linked to Barcelona by high-speed train and is half an hour from the beaches of the Costa Brava.

Step 1 of 12
Yes. Spain places no nationality restrictions on buying property. You do, however, need an NIE, the foreigner identification number, which is required to sign at the notary's and to open a Spanish bank account. We handle this step as part of our support.
Our nearest office is in Barcelona: Pg. de Gràcia, 61, 3º1ª, 08007 Barcelona. The Barcelona team handles projects in Girona. We meet you at the office or by video call, and organise viewings on site.
In the second quarter of 2026, the average appraised value of a free-market home in Girona was €2,316/m², according to Spain's Ministry of Housing, up 6.4% over one year. It is an average: prices vary a lot between neighbourhoods and types of property.
No. Many of our clients buy from abroad. Viewings can be done by video call with a written report, and signing at the notary's is possible with a power of attorney. On site, we check what photos do not show: the real condition, the immediate surroundings, any nuisances, compliance.
As a rule, allow 10 to 15% of the asking price. This covers transfer tax (ITP) for a resale property or VAT for a new build, notary fees, land registry registration and administrative costs. Our online buying costs calculator gives a detailed estimate by region and type of property.
From the first viewing to signing, it generally takes two to four months. The timing depends mainly on getting the NIE, any financing and the notary's availability. A cash purchase with a complete file can go faster.
